Err…the circus was in town. I didn’t actually go. Neither did my family. But that is not the important part. The important part, is that while the circus was being set up, they had this lovely courtyard set up. So Fien, another aupair Marja, and I, headed over to check it out. And in this courtyard…
ELEPHANTS!!
And camels…
but those things were ugly. So who cares. Except for the baby camel…look how cute it is!!!
Now on the safety side, you may be looking at these pictures and saying…uh, how is that keeping them from starting a stampede? Well the rope had a tiny electrified wire running through it…no elephants running rampant on the beaches of Noordwijk.
Anyway, Fien and I had a blast! We spent a good portion of the afternoon there just looking at them. Of course Fien is very much of the “look but don’t-make-me-touch-or-I-will-scream-bloody-murder” belief, but she still liked watching me pet them. She even attempted to feed it…
By attempted to feed it, I mean she got the hay and then dropped it a good five feet out of reach. Poor elephant probably thought we were teasing it. But then she just let me do it…
Of course then Mr. Elephant (who soon became my homie) thought I had more food when I went in for a picture…while holding Fien…that didn’t go over well…
Now don’t worry, you were totally welcome to go up to the animals and pet them or feed them. They seemed to love the trainers that were walking around too. I hope they were treated nicely. I’d like tot think so. Anyway, one of the elephants and I got pretty close…
But then a camel got jealous…
Yea, you’re seeing that right - HE IS BITING ME!! Well attempting to. I pulled away pretty quick. Stupid camel.
But it was a fun day. So here’s some love from the Fien, the elephants, not the camels, and me!
Word of the day: olifant - elephant
That's awesome that they had the animals right out there for everyone to see!
